Shaw’s Supermarkets have thrived ever since George C. Shaw opened his first store in 1869. As one of the oldest operating supermarkets in the U.S., Shaw’s continually strives to become the favourite food and drug retailer in every state it operates.

In April 2003, Shaw’s became the only large-scale supermarket in Downtown Boston and the Back Bay District when it opened the doors to its new, 40,000 square-foot flagship store in the Prudential Centre. In addition to the typical supermarket service departments, Shaw's new Prudential store introduced the addition of specialty shops, including a Wine Shop, a Sushi Station and Wild Harvest Natural/Organic foods category. Shaw’s prides itself on tailoring its product offerings to its local communities and the new Prudential store demonstrates that commitment by transforming a typical food-retailing establishment into a modern, first class supermarket that emphasizes local fresh and prepared foods.
